How much does wedding pictures usually cost?
Hello,
How much does wedding pictures usually cost? Especially if you would be taking pictures of the wedding itself, the reception, and bridal pictures?
Included would also be your time and services for the development of the pictures, and doing your own touch ups and what not?
Thanks!

I live in a small town in MN and called a place today and they told me for a package it would be $1500! Much more than I was expecting…
$1,500 -2,000. Make sure you tell the photographer which poses to take and which ones not to take in advance and get it in writing. May I make a suggestions. Great idea to place a disposal camera at every table and let your guest takes pictures of the people at their table and make an annoucement for the guests to leave the camera behind on the tables for you to develop. Great memories!
I’ve seen about $1300 as about normal, but I’m not 100% sure.
I just booked my photographer today. http://www.chris2photo.com. He has his prices listed if you want to review them for reference. I’m spending $6K and so have a majority of my friends. It seems like all of them are getting married. I am getting a lot done. But Chris packaged it together and I got a better deal. I am getting bridal portraits, engagement portraits and the wedding itself (ceremony & reception). Most photographers charge around $1500-$2500 for six hours of service. Anything addtional runs $150-$200. I have to do an additional three hours. Here’s a copy of my contract.

I love the copyright free DVD part. A lot of photographers still charge a lot for it and limit you how many you get, if any at all. These I will get to keep and develop myself for much less.
It takes on average a month or less to get your pictures/albums done. Most photographers outsource the work so they have a waiting period as well. The photographers themselves will take about 10-15 hours working on your pictures. They will get the colors (color, black & white, sepia, old aged) you want for the included price. They can even do your touch ups. Most photographers won’t charge extra unless you have to do a majority of them.
I have done my research for about four months now and have finally decided on a great photographer. I know I’m spending a lot but this will be my lasting memories forever. My childhood best friend only spend $3500 but she did not get much in return and her coverage hours were limited. If you are simple, go for a small package under $3500. You should be able to still get an album and your other portrait sessions done. Otherwise, if you budget can allow it, go all out like I did and be simply happy =).
I live in Houston and we have the Bridal Extravaganza and a lot of vendors come out and have awesome promos. Hopefully you will be able to do the same.
Another website with prices and package info I considered was http://www.loveleephotography.com.
Hope this helps and congratulations!
Oh, and about the disposable camera idea. It’s great but don’t do it. The last wedding I went to had little printed info cards for all the guests to take home. Since now a days everyone has a digital camera, ask your guests to log into a picture website you created and give them the log-in and password. They can upload all the pictures they took of your big day. It’ll be free! You’ll have a huge wedding album. She used flickr.com. Another one could be snapfish.com.
I found a photographer that wants to get into weddings. I am paying $950 for her to spend 8 hours with us between ceremony, reception & a little time before the ceremony.
All she gives me is the photos on CD and a release to duplicate them, printing is up to me and I can go anywhere I want. I did also agree that she may use any photos of her choosing for her own portfolio.
I am located in Central PA where prices are on the high side, but not as pricey as NYC. I also feel I got a good deal on these.
I think I’m paying around $3200 for 6 hours of shooting, an album, retouching and all the standard add ons.
I would never pay that kind of money for someone who doesn’t have an established business though.
I’m a wedding photographer in Ohio (also do USA & Destination weddings) and depending on the package and options you choose, the prices range from $700-8,000.
To get some quotes from photographers in your area, try looking at Decidio.com and Eventective.com… they have been helpful to clients of mine in the past.
Good luck!
Wedding photography is probably one of the most difficult planning decisions to make. Photo packages can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars into the mid thousands, depending on the photographer, where your wedding is, and the type of package you choose.
When picking a photographer, always ask to see samples of work and ask if there are any sort of deals or discounts that can be offered (for example, free engagement pictures with a wedding package). Most photographers tend to offer several package options, so choose one that works closest with your budget.
Prior to the day, sit down with your photographer and plan out what shots you want specifically, as well as what style of photography will work best for you. This will eliminate any additional sitting fees or costs. Remember, your photographer should have a contract detailing how the wedding will go on both your ends, just be sure to read it and make sure that you’re both on the same page concerning costs, types of shots, and time frames.
I hope this helps!!!
