Can I take my wedding flowers outside for the wedding pictures without killing them?

April 19th, 2010 by Kati

I’m getting married in a church and then going over to the reception hall to take the wedding pictures outside in February. I was wondering if there was anyway I could do that without killing my flowers immediately?

Covering your flowers with a bag while moving from one building to another will prevent them from getting frost nipped. If your bouquet is compact, a brown grocery bag will work fine. If it’s large or has a lot of stuff hanging down then you’ll have to resort to a couple dry cleaning bags.
If the weather is not freezing then you may not have to worry about it (don’t forget about the wind, though). A floral cooler is often as cold as 38F.

cold is good for real flowers!
that’s why most are kept in a cooler!
but they can freeze too so limit the time out side in the winter! no more then an hour!~ if below freezeing
if above freezing then your cool!

If the temps get below freezing you’ll want to cover the flowers with paper as much as possible. Brown grocery bags work great if your bouquet will fit under it. Don’t use plastic though – something about the condensation combined with the freezing temps will actually damage the flowers more than if you didn’t cover them with plastic at all. Keep the flowers covered with paper as much as you can – while traveling, between photos, etc.
