We have less money that we’d planned to do our wedding reception with.
Does anyone have any good ideas? I’m looking for inexpensive fun, but not cheap and chincy. Thanks!

It depends what you call cheap and chincy.
Try to find places that don’t require decorations – that means the ballrooms and halls are out unless they look great. If you want to try for an outdoor wedding, looking for a garden or the like. Sometimes they can be expensive. Other times…not so much. A zoo is also a nice place to look.
Also try looking at old theatres in your area. Just look around and see what you find – you may be surprsied!
Tip – don’t have your wedding on a Saturday. Sundays and Fridays are MUCH cheaper than Saturdays!
have you thought about just hors devours rather than a full sit down meal or if it’s outside a simple cookout.
-Elegant dining for 20 in the best restaurant in town.
With that budget, do not expect any miracles.
Good luck
Well, do you want the 2 grand to include food and beverages and about how many people are you looking to invite? Depending on where you live and what day of the week you have your reception, reception halls and hotels can run any where from $40 – $100 per person. I don’t know if you have a local VFW or an American Legion by you, they tend to be a little less expensive and some of them are very nice inside. Maybe find a restaraunt or local park district that has a patio area you can rent out. You really need to look around your area for options and speak to people you know for any references they can give.
Best of Luck!
