What kind of jewelry could you give the (step) children during the wedding?

May 9th, 2010 by Kati

My finance has three middle school age daughters who will also be participating in the wedding by being my bridesmaids and during a sand ceremony. I know it used to be the thing to give jewelry during the ceremony, but I don’t know what to give them. I thought about their first initials, but that doesn’t seem perfect.

I would suggest necklaces or bracelets, perhaps something personalized from Exclusively Weddings.
I love it when couples recognize their children, or future spouse’s children, in their commitment =]

    Diamond necklaces

Get them a charm made with an engraving on it that will truly mean something to them from you, some type of saying. Or get them a charm of there favorite item, ex: animal, heart, or get them there first diamond, just a small solitare diamond, usually can find a nice stone at a department store for a really good price. Congrats on the wedding

How about something with their initials, that has an engraving on it…Like “we’ll love you always”, “family forever”. So that they will always be reminded that you BOTH love them, because you are a family. :)

I’ve never heard of giving a gift during the ceremony but…

Pearls are always timeless and classic or a simple tiffany style necklace with their initial would be nice.

IMHO it does not have to be matchy matchy. What if you took each one of them shopping for some one on one time and picked something together? It actually doesn’t matter if two pick a necklace and one picks a bracelet, just so it’s nice enough that they’ll have it as a keepsake and classic enough that they’ll still like it when they’re young adults.

Then you could place them on each one during the unity ceremony and it would be their special gift.

Have you ever seen the Family Medallion jewelry? Here’s a link to their website with the meaning of the symbol on the necklace. Something like this would be nice to present to them at the ceremony representing the “family” you are becoming. It would also be something they could keep to wear in the future.
Best wishes as you plan your special day!
