Is it uncouth to inquire about a wedding invitation if you received the Save The Date?

June 21st, 2010 by Kati

My mom got invited to a wedding from a young lady that she regulary sits next to at church.

She recieved the save the date a while ago, but the wedding is June 5th and she has yet to receive the invitations. Is it tacky to call the person and ask them what happened to the invitation?

We kind of assumed that maybe she had closer people to invite so had to let her go, but then the invite could have gotten lost in transmission. WHAT IS THE PROPER STEP TO TAKE?

It really just depends on how close your mom is to the young lady. If they are not really all that close, I would just let it go. The girl probably gave your mom the save the date to be polite. If they have somewhat of a friendship then I would call the girl and ask her… if you don’t have her phone number that’s probably a good indication of their friendship.

Tricky one this, but i honestly would ask politely what is happening re june 5th arrangements. There is no other way to go about this rather than ask. The invite as you suggest could have not been delivered due to mishap or whatever other reason, and since she was asked by bride to be to save the date, i dont think it would be thought of as ignorant to ask about said plans, ie venue, time, and maybe wedding list if your mom is wanting to contribute a little gift for the couple.
