Every bride dreams of the perfect wedding, one that will be not only enjoyable and memorable, but that will express her true personality, and the personality of her new groom as well. That’s why, no matter how many weddings there are every year in every country around the world, no two of them are alike.
And for many brides, their personality really shines when it comes to their creative wedding favors, whether these are ones they’ve purchased or have handmade. Unique, original, and tailor-made just for her, creative wedding favors are something that the guests will have for years to come, so they definitely need to be “just right.”
So how can a bride be sure that she’s choosing just the right set of creative wedding favors that will fit the theme of her wedding and express her personality as well?
There are a few simple tricks to unlocking this secret, and once you know this, you’ll be on your way to finding the favors that are just perfect for you!
The first step is to think about you and your new groom together, and what really expresses the two of you as a couple. Do you both have a strong artistic side, whether it’s painting, music, or just crafts? Then creative wedding favors for you should reflect this; opt for ones that have strong colors and that reflect your passion. Do you love to travel, or are you both concerned about the environment? Nature-themed favors that reflect your love of the globe may be for you.
The next step is to think about your wedding itself. Is it formal and traditional? Elegant, or more fun and whimsical? A large affair in a very old cathedral, or a casual beachfront ceremony? Even the most creative wedding favors, no matter how unique, should fit in with the theme and overall feel of your wedding. A jar of colored sand at your traditional wedding may not be a good fit, but it certainly would be appropriate for that beachfront ceremony.
And the last secret to creative wedding favors that most brides forget is that you shouldn’t hesitate to shop around for pre-made items. Far too many brides think that in order for their wedding favors to reflect their own personality, this means they must make their own favors or “invent” something themselves. However, getting caught in this trap of thinking can just add undue stress to what should be the happiest day of your life.
As an example of creative wedding favors that are still unique and original, consider personalized candy bar wrappers, which have been a popular option for many brides in the past few years. Most companies have a wealth of designs, from traditional and elegant to fun and whimsical, nature or beach scenes, and even ones for the very modern bride who truly wants something different.
Most major wedding websites feature personalized candy bar wrappers, including The Knot and FavorsAndWraps, both of which have designs for weddings, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and many other occasions.
So remember to not put too much pressure on yourself when considering your options for creative wedding favors. Don’t hesitate to let someone else come up with something that’s still unique and high-quality, but that expresses your own individual style. After all, this day should be fun and enjoyable, and choosing just the right creative wedding favors can be one of the best parts of the planning!

A wedding event is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For sure, you want to hire the best photographer to capture every precious moment of the event. Wedding photography doesn’t just require technical skills. It is also an art. So how to you assess a wedding photographer? What makes someone stand out so much that you simply must hire him or her?
The mark of a good wedding photographer.
A good photographer doesn’t just depend on the tools to take wonderful photographs. Of course, having great photography equipment like expensive cameras, lenses, etc. makes life easier for the photographer. But the true photography master knows how to play with the light and the environment to create stunning photos. Much is dependent on the photographer’s judgment, experience, creativity, and thought process.
It has always been the case that the greatest thought masters make great photographers. Their work reflect their philosophy and they have the skills (honed to perfection through the years) to carry their messages across in the images. You are looking for such a person as a wedding photographer for the special day.
All wedding photographers have previous work that you can assess. From the portfolio, you will be able to tell the level of technical skills that a photographer possess. Take note of the couple’s expression in the photos. A good photographer should be able to get the couple to relax and smile so that even under difficult conditions (e.g. hot weather), the couple comes across as posing comfortably and happily.
Digital photography helps express creativity.
Sometimes, mistakes are made during photo shoots. Traditionally, such mistakes are costly because they cannot be easily corrected. Fortunately, due to the availability of digital technology, photographers can express their creativity to the fullest.
As the photo shoot progresses, don’t forget to communicate to your photographer the type of images you are looking for. The look and feel of the photos will change with different poses, different clothes, different settings, etc. But you should at least provide the general direction so that when all the digital images are brought back to the studio, they can be edited and processed to produce the perfect photos that you are looking for.
On the computer, there’s nothing that can’t be done. The lighting can be adjusted, defects cut out, backgrounds can be changed, etc. To create the perfect wedding photos, try to spend some time with your photographer during edits. Make an appointment to spend about an hour or two with the photographer in front of the computer. As the photographer moves and edits the photos, voice out your opinions.
Don’t be afraid to make drastic changes just to try out some special effects. For example, you can use smoke elements to create a more romantic mood if you find the original photo to look too mundane. You may also replace the background to create the illusion that you are in another country. The best part about digital photography is that you can always revert the changes and the photo will go back to its original image. With digital photography, creativity can be unleashed without limitations.

Most brides have been dreaming of their wedding since they were a little girl. And finding the perfect wedding dress is an important part of planning the perfect wedding. But you don’t have to break the bank to have the perfect wedding dress. Finding an affordable wedding gown is easier than you might think.
Wedding Dress Sample Sales
One of the best places to find an affordable wedding gown is at a sample sale. Many retailers have huge sample sales once or twice a year, where they sell the designer gowns that have been tried on at deep discount prices. A sample sale is worth the time and effort, especially if you wear a standard size (many samples are a size 10 or 12, which can easily be altered to a size six or eight). Wedding gowns are very affordable at these sales – most designers price dresses at a sample sale around 50%-75% off. You have probably seen some of the bigger sample sales on television, with brides lining up hours in advance for the first chance at dresses by the hottest designers like Vera Wang, Oleg Cassini, and Jessica McClintock.
Buying an Affordable Wedding Gown on eBay
Another great place to find affordable wedding gowns is on eBay. With the popularity of this online retailer, many brides are choosing to sell their gown after their wedding, and you can benefit. There are hundreds of designer wedding gowns available at affordable prices. Selections vary day to day, but you can often find designer wedding dresses for less than $200. Some of these dresses have been worn once; others are samples from bridal shops. Even if you need to have the dress cleaned or altered, your gown is significantly cheaper than if you had purchased it at a bridal shop.
Finding an Affordable Wedding Gown Locally
If you don’t want to shop online, there are local options for finding affordable wedding gowns as well. One option for finding an affordable wedding gown is at your local thrift store or consignment shop. Like with eBay, many of the dresses have only been worn once, and you have the advantage of being able to try the dress on before you buy it. You can also contact local bridal shops to see if they have any samples that are being discontinued. If you have the time to wait, you may be able to buy the sample when the dress is no longer available to order (often wedding gowns are only available for a short period of time).

I am trying to help my soon to be sister in law come up with some alternatives to having a wedding cake. She doesn’t particularly care for cake and is not something she wants to spend lots of money on.
She thought about chocolate covered strawberries because they are her colors but it is at the end of October in Ohio so it maybe hard to get good strawberries to make ourselves.
Any suggestions?
