Any ideas on how to word our wedding invitations?

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

We have been planning our July wedding for the past year and recently, because of insurance troubles and diabetes, we had to get married through a quick ceremony with only our closest family members. We still really want to have our big wedding, but now I’m confused as to how to word the invitations.. Can I still use my maiden name? Some of my distant family wouldn’t even know who I was if I used my new last name.. any ideas would be very helpful, I’m so frustrated with this!

Wedding Receptions are about getting together to rejoice! A wedding reception is about celebrating the union of the two in love. It is about partying and marveling at the very special day in the life of the married couple. It cannot go without eye-catching decorations. Decorating for wedding receptions is all about adding enchantment to the already enchanted minds.
Decorating for wedding receptions bears fruit if it is planned ahead in time. Plan well and have people help you out with the decorations. Decorating ideas for wedding receptions involve everything from the embellishment of the entrance to that of the reception cake. Apart from its exquisiteness, it represents the hospitality. Decorations are about grandeur and also about greeting your guests and seeing them return satisfied. To adorn the entrance, you can light up the doorway with twinkling lights. Flower garlands of lacy cloth can do up the entrance. Rose petals on the way to the hall with artificial birds or butterflies on both sides can be used to beautify the entryway. Decorating the ceiling can add to the aura in the wedding reception party. Adorn the ceiling with colorful strings and curly ribbons. Dim or bright lights looking down from the ceiling will light up the atmosphere. Hanging bells in the corners or from the center of the hall ceiling will give that extra warm feel to the party. Balloons add a celebratory touch to the reception hall.Your guests will spend most of their time on and around the tables. So make sure the centerpiece and the tables look good. Flowers are a great option for the centerpieces. Match the colors of flowers with the colors worn by the couple. Candles of various colors and fragrances look at their best as centerpieces. Use long tablecloths to cover the tables. Match the napkin colors with those of the tablecloths. You can use candles to adorn the tabletops. The reception cake is the under the spotlight! Don’t forget to decorate the cake table as also the floor around the cake table. That will make the cake stand out. Light up the space around the cake in a special way. That will highlight the cake.If you have themed your reception party, the hall decoration will have to take into account the theme used. The lights, the flowers used for decoration should go in tune with the theme decided. Using only candlelight, using flowers of a certain color or using only glass for the decoration are potential themes for wedding receptions. Themes can range from dressing in a common color up to enacting a particular time period. They give a consistent look to the party.A beautiful blend of light, flowers and water is my personal favorite. If you have planned an outdoor party, you can make lanterns float on water. That will give an elegant look to the decoration. Even in case of an indoor party, small lights or candles can be made to float in bowls of water. Place this arrangement to fill up empty spaces of the hall. They can also be placed on dinner of buffet tables. Flower vases, small potted plants look good in certain areas of the hall.In decorating the hall or the outdoors, don’t forget the people for whom the party is being given. The bride and the groom are those special people gracing the party. So make them feel nice and special. Guests arrive to celebrate their togetherness. The couple is the reason for the celebration. Wish them a happy life!<!– From http://www.buzzle.com/articles/decorating-ideas-for-wedding-receptions.html –> <!– google_ad_section_end –> When you book your wedding venue whether it be a church or registry office, garden flowers are usually purchased to be there at your wedding. These are may be one of the most expensive things for the wedding after the dress and the cake, believe it or not the marriage license isn’t that big a fee. Getting married around the winter holidays opens up some really great options for flowers. Christmas and New Years are two fun holidays that offer a chance for you to be creative with your wedding flowers. For your wedding centerpieces try to combine your chosen flowers with other seasonal items. Pine cones, Christmas ornaments, wreaths and berries are all items that work well in nterpieces.Usually where you are getting married is covered in beautiful flowers to set the mood, although if you have it in a garden than the flowers are already there, so you don’t really need to worry about that, you just have to worry about the rain!Arranging a wedding is a hectic job, till the last moment you feel that you have done nothing and everything is still to be done by YOU. Whether you are the bride or the bridegroom or even a parent or sibling to one of the persons in the wedding couple, you have a lot to do till the last moment. One very small but significant part of the wedding arrangement consists of the flowers. Although it seems like a small and easy business but it actually is a difficult one since everyone does not have a good sense of decoration and arrangement. In this article, I will discuss a few wedding flowers ideas so that you can get a clue. The first step in picking your flowers is to know what types are available where you are getting married or know what can be imported to your location. Local styles and customs will also change depending on where you are. Once you know what is available at your wedding location, you can plan your flower budget accordingly. Working with a florist or local wedding planner or expert can help tremendously in this area.Traditions of giving flowers to your mother on mother’s day dates back many years to when child apprentices and servants were allowed to return home to spend Mothering Sunday with their mothers. The origin of Mothering Sunday are associated with the Christian church throughout Europe, as such it is celebrated on different days in different countries, however in the UK Mothering Sunday is inherently associated with Lent.First let’s start with the most traditional. There are certain things that just say wedding, such as a white gown, pearl bridal jewelry, and a bouquet of roses. For brides who love all the old-fashioned traditions of weddings, roses are the perfect flower to carry. Best of all, roses can be found in any shade of pink that you can imagine, from the palest blush to the hottest pink. The most classic bouquet of all would be a round nosegay of pink roses accented with white stephanotis. The little star shaped stephanotis blossoms are usually have a pearl pin inserted into the center of each one, which makes them a great complement to your pearl bridal jewelry.

Wedding Favor Ideas – Tacky to Treasured

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Girls have been known to have a folder of unique wedding ideas that they have clipped and collected for years until their big day finally arrives. Some people have a vague idea of what they would like their wedding to be like and leave the nitty gritty to a wedding planner. Others plan out every minute detail themselves and have quite a few wedding favor ideas to choose from well in advance.

Regardless of which category you fall in, ideas for wedding favors can range from the tacky to the treasured. Contrary to what you might think, it’s not just how big a budget you have that determines how good your wedding favor idea will be. A little homework, a little patience and a lot of creativity (original or borrowed) are the ingredients in the recipe to a great wedding favor idea.

Tacky Favors

Extremely lovey-dovey wedding favors are not a good idea as what you feel for your spouse (right now) may not really interest 200 people a few weeks later. Leave all the mushy sentimental poems and love songs for your own exchange; give people something they would like.

People spend money to attend a wedding and while they are not in it to make money, they would at least like to leave with a small trinket of the wedding that looks like it has thought put in to it; not just a crate full of standardized mint tins that they could have bought from the gas station on the way back home. Don’t make yourself look cheap by making your guests feel uncared for. Just like you take pains in seeing to the dress, the d?cor and the food, look through several wedding favor ideas online an in bridal magazines and something just might click.

Classic yet Predictable Favors

The candied almonds wrapped in net, the personalized Hershey’s kiss and the monogrammed candles are all sweet ideas, but if anyone has ever been to a wedding before yours, they’ve seen them all. However, you don’t need to go over budget to come up with a good wedding favor idea. Take the classic and put a twist on it.

Instead of the famous Hershey’s kiss, opt for personalized M&M’s in the color of your wedding; they even put your name and wedding date on the candy. Instead of the monogrammed candle, add a candle holder so that even after your candle burns out, your guests can make use of it.

Another way you can make your wedding favor idea have a longer shelf life is not to include anything perishable or consumable. If you really want your guests to be able to keep the favor, opt for non-perishable items such as pens and frames as opposed to flowers and sweets.

Themed Favors

The best wedding favor idea is to tie it to the theme of your wedding. If you got married on the beach, consider a pair of flip fop fridge magnets or palm tree salt and pepper shakers. The wedding favor ideas do not have to scream wedding and they do not have to be white, silver or pastel. They have to be something that looks interesting and people can keep for a while.

So while a flip flop magnet may not say Amanda Weds Jason, it is something your guests can look at everyday and think about you if you are close to them. If you’re not that close to begin with, any favor will any ways be handed to the kids as a Happy Meal toy when they are picked up from the sitters!
