How To Look Perfect In Your Wedding Dress!

Friday, August 6th, 2010

In the months and weeks leading up to your wedding, finding time to take care of yourself can be a real challenge. Unfortunately, eating balanced meals and working out regularly often fall to the bottom of the to-do list but sometimes you just can’t do it all. The other pitfall is that wedding planning can be stressful which leads many of us to seek the comfort of food…not good when we need to slip into the perfectly altered wedding dress! So what can you do to ensure your body is picture perfect in that wedding dress? Below are some tips outlined in Bride’s Magazine in their May/June 2007 Issue.

? Create an hourglass silhouette by giving the bust a boost and tame any tummy bulge. You can achieve this with a corset that sits squarely on the hips (a seamless bustier with hidden underwire and lightly padded push-up cups for formfitting gowns) and body-shaping footless pantyhose with extra tummy control. This technique works great with strapless dresses.

? If wearing a dress with a sweetheart neckline you can enhance cleavage with a padded bra.

? For backless gowns, adhesive silicone gel cups without straps and seams are the perfect choice. These stick-on cups with a front closure are totally invisible under sheer styles.

? If your wedding dress has a halter style top with a plunging neckline, you’ll need more than a bra that just dips in the front. Consider a bra that is halter-style with sturdy, clear convertible straps, molded contoured cups, and a low back.

No matter your figure shape, it’s your special day. Following these flaw fixing strategies will ensure you look as beautiful on the outside as you feel on the inside on your special day!

Good places to look for wedding gown for beach wedding?

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

I’m planning an informal wedding that will take place on a beach. We’re planning on going barefoot, and doing everything very simple. However, I have no idea what to look for as far as dresses go. Every website I go to seems to have these elaborate gowns. I want something long [not a fan of cocktail length dresses], but I don’t know where to begin…

Your Own Special Day, Your Own Way – a Look at Maternity Wedding Gowns

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Once upon a time, good girls did not get married when they were pregnant. If they did, it was certainly not in the open public. Those days are long gone. Today, you can be pregnant and still wear a beautiful and fashionable wedding dress. In fact, there are many different and stylish maternity wedding gowns from which to choice. You can find them by looking at various online retail sites, visiting a specialty store or even dropping into your favorite store. These same stores can help provide you with basic advice on pregnancy. They can also help you with the rest of your maternity wardrobe.

You can start with a look at the regular wedding dresses. You may be able to find one that suits your purpose. If this is your preferred choice, consider looking at used wedding gowns. This allows you to spend less and still obtain a top quality gown. You will also have fewer qualms about altering it to fit the shape you will be by the time of the wedding.

The size you will be when you are walk down the aisle, determines the dimensions of your dress. If you are arranging for the dress months in advance, make sure your designer, retailer and/or tailor is aware of the date of the wedding. They also need to know the trimester you will be in when you wed. They can then make the allowances necessary for you to create the impression you want. This will save on last minute and rushed adjustments to your maternity wedding dress.

The style of your dress, however, depends upon your personal taste. You can still be a Princess on your wedding day. Wear the long, flowing wedding gown with lacy sleeves and a crown. Opt for a classical bell-shaped white gown or short sleek numbers. It is your choice and any number of maternity boutiques, wedding shoppes or gently worn clothing stores can help you find the ideal maternity wedding gown.

While you are focusing on the color, design and size of the maternity wedding dress, do not neglect the undergarments. With your breasts increasing in size, be sure you have the right supportive bra. If you are wearing hose, try to avoid panty hose or tights. They can be stifling in the heat. If you decide to wear knee-highs, stay away from those with tight elastic. They can affect the already suffering blood circulation of your legs.

The same thing applies to your choice of shoes. Feet and ankles swell during the average pregnancy. You will be standing on these rebellious appendages for the ceremony so you need their co-operation. Devote some time to the choice of comfortable footwear. Like your selection of undergarments, your choice of shoes will help make your day a pleasant one or a time of pure torture. Maternity wedding gowns may be beautiful and comfortable, but if the shoes and undergarments scratch, itch, are too tight or too loose, or do not provide sufficient support, you might as well have stayed at home or worn sackcloth.

If you pay attention to the details, all will fall into place. Remember – it is your special day. Arrange to have it your way from the choice of venue to the material and cut of your maternity wedding gown.

5 Ways To Find Cheap Wedding Dresses That Look Anything But

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Your wedding gown is arguably the most important garment purchase in your lifetime. No other dress comes with more anticipation – and will be more photographed – than this one. But that doesn?t mean you have to spend like royalty to look like a princess on your wedding day. With these smart strategies, you can still walk down the aisle feeling like a million bucks (without having to spend just that).

Something Borrowed
Today, anything retro screams chic. So consider donning your mother?s wedding gown. You?ll not only honor a family legacy, you?ll save a pretty penny too. With vintage lace overlays and crystal embellishments making a comeback, you won?t have to worry about looking dated. With a few simple (and inexpensive) alterations, you can make it your own.

Avoid Added Adornments
Beading, pleating, stitching, embroidering…all of these trimmings add up and are going to cost you extra. Consider a dress that is simply embellished, yet still elegant.

Shop Savvy
Be on the lookout for sample sales, trunk shows, and outlet bargains. Bridal shops are trying to rid their racks of the previous season?s styles to make room for new ones in the late-summer/winter months. Get ready to brave the crowds for super savings.

Don\’t Name Drop
Sure, designer duds are nice – but if you?re on a budget – you may want to skip the sought-after label. The good news is that you won?t have to sacrifice on style. If you find a look you like from a high-end dress designer, you can almost always find something similar by another name in your price range.

Be Honest
Just because your wedding dress budget doesn?t match your elaborate vision doesn?t mean you have to sacrifice the look you want. Approach this shopping decision with an open mind. When stepping into a bridal boutique, tell them exactly what you can realistically spend, and let them take care of the rest. They are the experts, and you might be surprised to see what they can come up with—the perfect wedding gown exists at every price point.

Think Outside Traditional Tulle and Lace
There?s no written rule that says your wedding day attire has to be an official bridal gown. The look you are going for is often available through another avenue. For instance, many bridesmaids? dresses come in white or ivory, offering a less expensive, less fussy alternative to the traditional wedding dress.
