Choosing the Right Wedding Invitation

Monday, September 20th, 2010

One of the largest expenses while getting married is the wedding invitation. You can spend a rather large amount of money on your wedding invitation if you have the funds. Many people view the wedding invitation as a highly important part of the wedding process. They see the wedding invitation as your first chance to show the world who you are as a couple. If you feel this way, you will want to spend a little extra time, money and effort on your wedding invitation. If you view them as simply a means to let everyone know about the wedding, there are many ways you can save money.

You will want to purchase your wedding invitation early. Whether you are having invitations printed professionally or you are going to print your own wedding invitation, you want to send out invitations with enough time for people to plan to make it to your nuptials. One very important thing about your wedding is having the people you care about present. If you don’t send out your wedding invitation with enough time, people might make other plans.

A fancy wedding invitation can be very expensive. Because of this, you should determine your overall wedding budget. Then, you should decide exactly what you want to spend on your wedding invitation. If you are looking to spend a lot of money, you might be able to afford nicer wedding invitation on thicker and more expensive paper. Professional printers will offer a wide range of options that can suit any needs. If you are looking to save money, you can make your own invitations from wedding stationary. You can save a lot of cash by opting to make your own wedding stationary rather than hire out. If you are planning to have a huge wedding, this can be a big undertaking.

If you are making the wedding invitation yourself, you should make sure you allow plenty of time. Addressing hundreds of envelopes is no small project and you will want to make sure that everyone on the list gets an invite. You don’t want to be rushing at the last minute to finish up your wedding invitation. You also want to give people time to RSVP so you can know exactly how many people are planning to show up. Weddings are expensive and it is certainly undesirable to have a lot of people fail to respond. You can make your own wedding invitation by going to a craft store. They will generally have paper with nice designs that you can put in your own printer. You can dress up your wedding invitation by adding ribbons or confetti.

Another way to save money on wedding stationary is to send out e-vites. An e-vite is an online invitation. You can use sources such as email or networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace to get the word out. This is also a great way to differentiate between who is coming to the reception and who is just invited to the ceremony. You can send e-vites to a large group of people for the wedding ceremony and then send out paper invitations to those invited to the reception. This can save a lot of money and cut back on confusion.

How To Choose The Right Wedding Photographer And Feel Like A Star On Your Wedding Day!

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Why should you trust your memories to a professional wedding photographer?

It’s essential you hire a good, professional wedding photographer for your big day if you want wonderful wedding photographs. Wedding pictures will last a lot longer than the flowers, food and drink. You’ll be able to relive your wedding day every time you look at your photographs. You need a photographer who understands what you want and can be relied upon to capture every minute of your special day. The right wedding photographer can make you feel like a star!

When you hire a professional photographer, look for the following:

1. Specialized and well kept professional equipment (includes a medium format camera aside from a professional 35mm camera).

2. A valid and legal sales tax license.

3. Ask for latest proof of business insurance.

4. A permanent studio.

5. Membership in a professional photographic association.

6. Examples of recent work

Important points to consider:

Photographer’s level of experience and references – check the photographer’s background and ask for references. Meet with the referees personally in order to look at the photographer’s work as well as ask them if they were happy with the outcome of the work. Personally, I wouldn’t hire a photographer who hesitates to give references.

Photographic style – do the images appeal to you? Do you like the photographer’s style?

Personality – are the photographer’s ideas the same as yours? Can you communicate with him/her easily? Does he/she understand what you want regarding the style of photography?

Packages – ask about each package presented to you and the cost. If you’re not comfortable with the packages, can the photographer make one to satisfy your needs?

Accomplished work – ask how long it will take to finish your album, your bridal portrait and all the photos taken during the wedding.

Price – can you afford this photographer? Take the time to ask all that you need to know and make sure you understand all services and photos included in the cost.

Payments and deposits – if you cancel, can you get a refund? If the photographer, in any circumstance, does not show up, what happens? Can a partner take his place? Make sure you clear all of this with the photographer as well as discussing all your concerns. If the photographer’s answer doesn’t satisfy you, look elsewhere.

Contract – check and read it carefully before signing. If there’s anything that you don’t understand, ask for clarification or ask the photographer to leave you the contract overnight so you can study it. Make sure the contract includes everything you agreed on.

When looking at the photographer’s work, look for the following:

1. Each sample album must consist of only one wedding. Are there a lot of sample albums?

2. Is there a recent actual wedding that you could look at? Look through the photographer’s most recent wedding album.

3. Study each album well and see if the album tells the story of the wedding; not just similar photos filling up the album.

4. Are the portraits clear and did the photographer capture the subject’s mood?

5. Are all the photos done artistically? Is there a play of light and shadow?

6. Are candid shots taken? Are they clear and well composed?

Remember that your wedding photographs will remind you of your special day and can last forever. Once you have chosen the right photographer, enjoy being the center of attention on your big day. That doesn’t mean you have to act like Bridezilla, but you can certainly enjoy feeling like a star on your wedding day.

Choosing The Right Wedding Cake Toppers

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

The first thing to consider when choosing a wedding cake topper is how it looks with your cake. Depending on how big or how decorative the cake is, you might find that some cake toppers just don’t even fit on top!  So, first get the dimensions of your cake and keep them handy when shopping. They will come in good use.

Most cake tops are made to fit standard sized cakes that have a top tier of about 8″ in diameter, so there will be plenty of options if your cake is this size. If it is larger, you can simply buy more figurines or cake toppers, or build a centerpiece out of a statue topper or some other decoration if you want to.

When you start looking through the cake tops keep in mind your wedding theme. Funny wedding cake toppers are great for most wedding themes. They are perfect for beach weddings, even ballroom weddings. They may look out of place at a fairytale wedding or a romantic wedding, however.  If you are having one of these consider a statue cake topper like the dove wedding cake toppers.

Other options include monogram wedding cake toppers. These are great no matter what your ceremony is all about.  They come in different fonts but the most popular are a modern Arial styled font. Some also feature jewels and other accents.  Choose one that suits your decor and be sure to get the bride and groom initials.

There are wedding cake toppers for all seasons, plus there are also interchangeable bride and groom figurines.  These wedding figurines can be paired up however you like, so a funny bride can go with a serious groom and vice versa.

There’s more than one way to top your cake, so start shopping for some of the best funny wedding cake toppers and other decorations today.

How do you get the wedding ceremony music timing right?

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

I am having a small outdoor pavilion wedding. The wedding party has 2 groomsmen, one MOH and a flower girl. Music will be played on an acoustic guitar. I am having trouble figuring out how the timing works. Obviously its not going to take a whole song (3ish minutes) to have the wedding party walk down the aisle, how do i cut a song short. Same as when I (bride) walk down the aisle. What do people do? let the song play out or just find a way for it to mellow out?

How to Choose the Right Neckline for Your Wedding Dress

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

When it comes to your wedding and picking the wedding dress of your dreams, it seems like a million options are available to you. The best thing to do is remember what is important and to deal with those things first.

Something that is vital to any dress and often sneaks under the radar in terms of importance is the right neckline. Necklines are the first ladies of the dress world, you may not notice them if they’re doing their job properly, but if they aren’t, it is tough to ignore.

You need to think about this very carefully. You want to draw attention to your upper body and face, but at the same time you don’t want to look like a common strumpet. If you do, by all means go ahead, it is your day after all. A first-rate dress will draw attention to the positive features and leave out the bad.

A useful point of reference is to think about what tops you wear on a daily basis. This will help to find something that is both comfortable and, when made of silky white material, absolutely stunning. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable wearing your dress, you have to feel good. After all no one likes a grimacing bride in the wedding photos!

Some of the options for necklines are:

1) The low round or scooped neck. This tends to not draw too much attention to any one part of your body. This means that everyone will be looking at your face. Make sure your hair will be looking stunning if you’re going to opt for this.

2) The Halter neckline. This is perfect if you’re a bit larger around the shoulders. You also run the risk of making your bust look uneven, so if you are going to go with this for your dress, make sure that you find a tailor you trust to make the alterations.

3) The Sweetheart neckline. This is perfect when you want to accentuate your bust. It gives flattering lines to both your face and neckline, bringing a bit of glamour to things. This works well with a romantic type of dress.

4) The V neck. The old faithful of wedding dresses. A V neck is both classic, and depending on how low you want it, a little bit daring too. It tends to draw the eye down and into the centre of the dress. Remember that you need to be very conscious of how low this dress dips, take your eye off the ball for one second and you’re going to be finding all sorts of new uses for double sided tape.

5) You can also go off the shoulder. Now be warned, this is something you need to be comfortable with. If you’re not comfortable with this dress you will spend the whole day fidgeting, do you really want to spend your wedding day squirming? This is one of those dresses that needs your confidence to work, so if you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Wedding Jewelry Tips ? How To Choose The Right Necklace, Earrings, & Bracelets

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Wedding jewelry is an important aspect of bridal wear. Many brides underestimate the importance of choosing the right jewelry. The perfect necklace, earrings, and bracelet can perfect your overall look. Read these tips on selecting the right wedding jewelry for your big day!

On your big day, everything you wear needs to match perfectly, including wedding jewelry. You have that new ring on your finger, so you need to choose additional jewelry to go with it. Use your dress’s details to determine which necklace and earring styles will complement your overall look.
Necklace Tips

If your dress has a low neckline or is cut in a halter-style, go with a thin, drooping necklace. Avoid chokers because they will make your chest appear too wide. A single strand of pearls OR a thin necklace with a small, delicate pendant are both great choices.

For a high neckline, you can go with either a long necklace or none at all. If you absolutely want to wear one, take it with you when you try dresses on. Make sure it looks great with whichever dress you choose.

Off-shoulder and strapless dresses offer more room to work with. Shorter necklaces complement strapless tops well. Another option is a small, thin choker with a large pendant. The necklace and dress will both be defined with the right wedding pendant.

Earrings Tips

When it comes to wedding jewelry, old earrings go well with strapless gowns and low necklines. You can wear large hoop or chandelier earrings with bare shoulders.

If your outfit includes heavy ornamentation or puffy sleeves, keep the earrings small. You don’t want them to get caught on the ornaments or sleeves!
For a formal wedding, choose sparkly earrings. Swarovski crystals are always a good choice if you want something fancy. For a casual ceremony, sterling silver dangles or coin pearl drops are ideal choices.

Bracelet Tips

If your dress is elegant and stunning, choose pearl rhinestones or Austrian crystals. A vintage rhinestone clasp is a great choice for an old-fashioned dress.

Go with multiple bracelets if you really want to go all out. However, make sure they are light, as you don’t want them dangling heavily from your arm during the ceremony!

If your wedding dress is modern and short, you can really enhance your overall look with a dazzling diamond tennis bracelet. Just make sure the rest of your wedding jewelry has a contemporary appearance.

Sometimes you can find multiple pieces of wedding jewelry in a set. Keep in mind that they need to match your dress, each other, AND be convenient! You don’t want to wear jewelry that will get in the way.

How to Take Right Measurements for a Perfectly Fitted Wedding Gown

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Nowadays brides are increasingly prefering the online platform for purchasing affordable wedding dresses. Well the reason for this is simple. By purchasing bridal gowns online you save valuable time that can be used for planning other important things for the wedding. Moreover, the online shops have a huge collection of elaborate and discounted wedding gowns for all types of figures and in different styles.

But for purchasing the right bridal gowns online, it is very important to provide the proper measurements before ordering a gown. As far as bridal gowns are concerned it must fit the body perfectly and enhance the figure of the bride. An ill-fitted wedding gown can make you feel uncomfortable and spoil your mood. Here are some tips to help you come up with the right measurement.

1) Firstly, ask your friend or family member to take your measurements. At any cost, avoid taking the measurements yourself as it is not possible to take the right measurements on your own. Also remember that wedding dress sizes are different from normal size charts.

2) While taking the measurements you must be dressed in a well-fitted bra and underwear. Preferably, wear the undergarments you plan to wear with your bridal gown.

3) Use a cloth tape measure to take the measurements. And in case you don’t have one use a string to measure around the body and a ruler to measure the string.

4) To take the measurement of your busts, stand straight with your heels together. Now measure the bust line with the help of measuring tape by covering the widest part of your back and the fullest part of your chest. Keep a thumb in the inner side of the tape and note down the measurement in a piece of paper.

5) For taking the waist measurement stand with your stomach at its natural position. Put the tape at the waistline from where you usually wear your jeans or trousers and measure the size by keeping a thumb on the inner side of the tape. Or to find your waist, bend to one side and the deepest wrinkle you find is your waist. Keep the tape loose for getting the right measurement.

6) For taking the measurements of your hips, stand in a relaxed posture with your heels together. For a sheath dress, position the tape around the fullest part of your bottom and for an A-line dress, around the fullest part of your hip.

7) The measurement for the length of the bridal dress must be taken from the hollow of the neck just above the collarbone to the length that you would like the hem of the dress to fall. If you are planning to wear heels with the wedding dress add 5’’ extra to the length of the dress.

Once the measurements have been taken, check them with the size chart provided by the online shops selling discounted wedding gowns. These size charts would tell how measurements are mapped to the designer sizes.

And don’t panic if the measurements taken by you are not there in the chart. Bridal gowns available online usually are not custom made to exact measurements and can be easily altered to your size before the gown is delivered to you.
