Beach Wedding in October. How can I incorporate a theme?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Ok so I am just getting started on planning my wedding which is taking place October 2009 in Destin, FL. My favorite movie is The Notebook and my fiance and I absolutely love this movie. I would love to incorporate this theme in my beach wedding/reception and could use some suggestions. Thanks!

Ten Wedding Accessories That Can Complement Your Wedding Theme

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Your wedding day is likely to be one of the most important days in your life, and certainly the biggest party. With hundreds of details to consider, both large and minor, it can be difficult to get a handle on planning. However, the tiniest details can sometimes add that perfect touch to make the day complete. Consider the following ten theme-friendly accessories before putting the finishing touches on your plans.

Headpieces

One of those tiny details that end up making a big impression on your wedding day is the headpiece you choose to wear, if any. Your headpiece is literally the topper to your whole ensemble and should match your theme as closely as possible.

Popular choices for headpieces include headbands, which are a safe bet for matching nearly any dress as they are available in a number of styles. More formal brides may opt for a tiara or an ornate pin or comb to create just the right effect.

Veils

The veil is perhaps the most obvious of accessories for your wedding day, as it can often play a central role in the ceremony itself. The traditional veil that rests over the bride’s face until she reaches the altar is call a blusher.

Many contemporary themed weddings dispense with this feature, however. A short veil reaches only to the shoulders and adds a bit of whimsy to any gown while elbow length, fingertip and chapel veils provide a more conservative and traditional effect.

Bracelets

A bracelet often does wonders for a sleeveless gown. Brides may choose to opt for a simply styled, well fitting bracelet rather than looser bangle style pieces in order not to draw attention away from the dress, but rather to compliment it. Gowns featuring bejeweled flourishes are partnered well with a similarly sparkling bracelet.

Shoes

Although the shoes a bride chooses to wear are often out of view beneath a billowing skirt, the comfort they afford is often the most important factor in choosing a pair. From the ceremony to the reception and everything in between, the bride will be spending a lot of time on her feet. When you remember your wedding day, you’ll be grateful to have focused on the action rather than the pain in your feet!

Handbags

The bridal handbag is a tentative issue. While some brides choose to forgo a handbag entirely, it can add an elegant look to the bridal ensemble while en route to and attending the reception. If you do choose to sport a handbag, opt for a small clutch that matches your gown as closely as possible.
Gloves

Gloves are another wedding accessory that just doesn’t fit every bride’s specifications. They are befitting mostly to extremely elegant or traditional ceremonies only, but may fit in perfectly well at smaller scale weddings as well. Additionally, gloves may help to accentuate sleeveless gowns, adding a decidedly formal flourish of style.

Earrings

Earrings are a widely accepted and employed accessory at contemporary wedding ceremonies. Popular materials include pearls, platinum and sterling silver to add a shining touch to your gown. A more traditional choice includes earrings that dangle modestly, but many brides may opt for studded styles as well, which tend to match gowns with a more modern cut.

Necklaces

Whether you choose to don a necklace, of course, depends on your gown style and neck line. A dramatically crafted necklace is a great option for brides who wish to draw the eye upward, or simply wish to add a final touch of elegance to their ensemble. Once again, white pearls and silver pieces are the most popular choices for classic wedding ceremonies.

Wraps

Wraps are another accessory brides may choose to forgo completely. They make a truly elegant statement and can come in handy for weddings taking place during a chilly time of year, and make an appropriate addition to your gown if you should run into rain on your special day. Although some gowns come complete with wraps, it’s not difficult to find one that matches well to keep on hand just in case.

Pins

Finally, brides who have chosen to skip the traditional veil or tiara may wish to add a flourish to their hair with decorative pins. Many brides choose pins with feather features, fresh flowers or elegant floral patterns. The pin you choose should depend largely on its ability to match your gown.

Whether your wedding ceremony is a huge affair with hundreds of guests and an opulent reception or a more reserved, modest gathering, the perfect accessories can help make that special day all that you’d hoped for. Take your time when considering potential accessories for your wedding, but don’t fret over the choice too much. After all, the most important detail of your wedding is the person you love.

What do you think of using this as our wedding theme?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I want to incorporate this pattern into various details of the wedding and sort of make it the theme. The background paper in this photo: http://www.scrapbooking101.net/articles/img/Girl.jpg
Do you think this is a good idea? Any suggestions on ways to use the pattern throughout the wedding or reception? I like the antique details but I want to blend it with a modern fresh look as well.
here is another picture of the paper: http://www.paperwishes.com/scripts/img.php?partnumber=20138&height=288&sharpen=1&
I’m having an impossible time finding it in any fabrics!
