Any ideas on how to word our wedding invitations?

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

We have been planning our July wedding for the past year and recently, because of insurance troubles and diabetes, we had to get married through a quick ceremony with only our closest family members. We still really want to have our big wedding, but now I’m confused as to how to word the invitations.. Can I still use my maiden name? Some of my distant family wouldn’t even know who I was if I used my new last name.. any ideas would be very helpful, I’m so frustrated with this!

How to word a wedding invitation when guests are only invited to reception?

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I am getting married next year and am having a small ceremony with close friends and family. (I have a HUGE family and dont want them all to attend the actualy wedding ceremony)

I am having my reception immediately following the ceremony but I dont know how to word the invitations so that it explains that the guests are invited to the reception, not the actual ceremony. I am thinking of also enclosing a small card to invite those we want at the actual ceremony, but the larger invitations will go to those who are invited to the reception…
So my question is how do i word both the large and small invitations?
This is in response to Royallady1947- I have a huge family and when we were sitting down to make out a guest list, we had a total of 150 people on MY SIDE OF THE FAMILY (not including our friends, my fiancee’s family and our parents friends)
I do not think it is inapproapriate at all to want our actual ceremony- the one where we exchange our vows and promise to love each other forever- to be in front of those we barely know. I want the rest of our family to celebrate with us, but i want those who are “most important” to us to witness us take our vows. At my cousins wedding it was ridiclious because there were so many people, and i refuse my wedding to be a circus. The reception is different because it is for the family to celebrate. I dont think there is anything wrong with it and i guess its a good thing that you are not going to be invited to our wedding- thank you to everyone else for your wonderful advice and best wishes!! :)

How do we word our wedding invitations?

How would you word the following into a wedding invitation?

We are getting married overseas (where our family stays) and we have decided to Christen our son after the wedding ceremony. How would you word this on the wedding invitation?

Also because our home is fully established and we live overseas how could you politely ask people not to give gifts but if they would like they could give us money instead? I don’t expect money but its will be really hard to take gifts on a plane!

How should I word wedding invitations when multiple people are paying?

Friday, August 6th, 2010

I’m getting married in 5 months, and I need assistance with wording the invitations. My mom, step-father, father, fiance’s mom and the 2 of us are paying for the wedding. How can I include everyone and make it look nice without it looking like it is rambling on?
So far these are all great answers! Hard to choose a best!
The reason I mentioned putting in everyones names was because of the web references I’ve seen so far – etiquette states to put in the names of the people who are hosting it.
Thanks to all =)

How do you word second wedding invitations?

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I still have my ex-husband’s last name (it was easier to keep it). Everyone knows me by that last name. But I’m not sure how to do the invitations now that I’m getting remarried. I plan on dropping it after we’re married (duh). I just feel weird about having that last name on my wedding invites. Is there a way around this?
My fiance and I are paying for the wedding, so our names will be the only ones on the invitations.

Any ideas on how to word a wedding invitation that will blend out family? We want to include the children.?

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

My fiance and I will be married in October. I have searched high and low for the “perfect” wording for our invitation, but can’t find anything that sticks out to me. This is both of our second wedding, we both have children, and want to include them in the wedding invitation. Any suggestions from some creative people would be very much appreciated. I was thinking of adding something like ” Please join us in witnessing our circle of love that will make us one” i dont know, what do you guys think?

How do I word a wedding invitation for one ceremony and three receptions?

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

My partner and I are originally from different countries and we are planning on having wedding receptions in these two countries as well where we are residing now. We were thinking of doing a wedding invitation for the ceremony which will be in the country we are residing now and also include a reception card which will have the three reception venues in the three countries and give a choice in the RSVP card to tick which one they will be attending.
Would like to hear if you have been in a similar position, and if so what did you do?
